March 17 - April 2- People Like Me , a series of 21 performances across the bay area for school children featuring the story of the Sun Goddess, Ameterasu, weaving together the dance, music and storytelling from INDIA, PERU, KOREA, MEXICO and JAPAN.

March 5 @ 9 PM - Shreelata will perform at Shiva Murugan temple, Concord, CA on the auspicious occassion of Maha Shiva Rathri (Night-long Vigil Meditating on Lord Shiva)

March 30 - Ambika Gopalan participates at the Thyagaraja Aradhana dance competition, Cleveland, OH

April 6 10:30 AM - Vishwa Shanthi Annual Day at Cubberley Theater, Palo Alto, CA.
Over 100 students of the Vishwa Shanthi Dance Academy of all ages and Shreelata will showcase their art and learning. New students and parents are encouraged to attend. Admission is Free.

April 27 3 PM - Spring Dance Inspiration 2008 at Fort Mason Center, San Francisco, CA in support of the National Brain Tumor Foundation.

Past Performances

Some of the highlights of Shreelata’s dancing career…

International Performances 1995 Invited by ISKCON to perform at the Cusco Consistorial theatre and at their temples in Santiago, Lima and Cusco. A documentary with Shreelata dancing in the ruins of the Incas was filmed by the Museum of Cusco, Peru.

1994, 1995 and 1998 Shreelata performed at Centre Mandappa, Paris

1995 Shreelata performed in Tblisi, republic of Georgia and in Baku, Azerbaijan (both countries were part of the former USSR). She also danced for an independent TV station of Azerbaijan.

1996 During her travels in South East Asia with her husband, Shreelata gave 10 performances in Malaysia, a performance for the Indian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand and one for the Indian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia. She also danced in the cities of Darwin and Brisbane in Australia. 1997 Shreelata was invited to perform for the Indian High Commission in Kenya and by Kalamandalam to perform at Tanzania.

1997 Shreelata was invited back to the South East Asian countries and gave 7 performances in the countries of Thailand, Indonesia and Australia.

North American performances

1993 Performed in the cities of Boston, Cleveland and Pittsburgh

1994 Shreelata performed at the Asia House at the Oberlin College, Ohio

1999 Shreelata danced in cities of Cleveland, Houston, Pittsburgh, Austin, College Station and Richland. Her performance at College Station was part of the International Week celebrations and was arranged by Spic-macay.

Jan, 2000 Shreelata has been invited to perform at San Antonio in Texas.

Group Performances

  • Shreelata played the lead role of Ardhanari in Lalgudi Jayaraman’s dance drama, Jaya Jaya Devi that toured 25 cities of North America and Canada and in the Indian presentations.
  • She was part of the dance drama Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum presented by Sudharani Raghupati
